Services
Drinking Water
Since 2020, our business line KAWAILANI CATCHMENTS has performed the design, installation and maintenance of residential rainwater catchment systems for over 200 clients on the Island of Hawaiʻi. KAWAILANI (lit. heavenly waters) distributes, installs and services water storage tanks, ultraviolet treatment systems, treatment chemicals, whole-house and point-of-use filtration, softeners, conditioners, and reverse osmosis. We also provide water quality testing, and water line installation and repair.

We help clients optimize existing tanks and select the right storage for their site — from conventional metal catchment tanks to low-profile, modular, and space-saving systems that fit under lānai, beside the home, or on tight urban lots. We also build for longevity, with protective systems engineered for the corrosive vog and salt air environment — the conditions that significantly shorten a metal tank's life here.

With recent state law affirming the right to rainwater catchment on properties across all the islands — including those on county water — a well-designed system is an increasingly practical path to water security, supplemental supply, and building where meter availability is limited.

Wastewater
Kūlana is your specialized wastewater partner for Hawaiʻi's residential redevelopment projects. When clients want to take on major additions or ʻohana ADUs, we answer site planning questions early through the design of horizontal wastewater infrastructure upgrades that unblock major remodels, renovations and urban infill projects.

We are the only specialty cesspool conversion construction firm in Hawaiʻi that conducts cultural resources screening and diligence as standard practice — identifying the risk of impacting legally protected, unmarked burial grounds before any ground-disturbing work begins. By addressing both the infrastructure challenges and cultural kuleana early — issues that will otherwise stop work cold — we help your projects move forward respectfully, on budget and on schedule.

Cost is the reason most cesspool conversions are not happening. We know the funding landscape — including the new state revolving loan fund established in 2026 — and we identify and pursue the grant, subsidy, and low-interest loan programs your property could qualify for. Third-party financing is also available. From there we manage the entire project lifecycle: bid services, permitting, construction management, and coordination through commissioning — one firm, start to finish, no handoffs.
